Mark your calendars: the Night of Open Thrones has been announced. For one evening, the grounds around every known throne will be open to visitors after dark.
The rules are simple and will be repeated often: sit where you like. Stay as long as you like. Claim nothing. Bring a lantern — the grounds are beautiful at night and the steps are older than the kingdom.
"It's the one night nobody argues about the thrones," said the organizer. "They just look at them. It's remarkable what that does for people."
Lanterns will be provided at the gate for anyone who forgets. The organizers, who have run this before, assure us someone always forgets.
